Good thing: there was a small fracture. So, the dog bite. I was given antibiotics, and sent along with instructions to return in two days. I did, and the person I now know not to be a physician, told me that the care I'd been given at first was insufficient. I was given an IV antibiotic and steroid, and told to return the following day. That all sounds very reasonable (except for the cane use instruction). But the finger that was bitten was already very arthritic, and a month later, in addition to the added pain and swelling, my finger was rotating slightly and losing circulation several times a day. I went to my regular physician, who was quite angry. He looked at the bite wound, about which he had received no reports, and said I should have seen a hand surgeon within days of the injury. Urgent care is fine, but as my primary care physician pointed out, it is for urgent care. They are supposed to tell patients to follow up with their own physicians, not with the urgent care facility. They are supposed to submit reports to the patients' physicians, but do not. They have gotten a lot of insurance and co-pay money from me that they shouldn't have. I will not use them again.
