The policy now refers to adverse conditions which may affect the University's ability to remain at normal service levels. It is possible that a power outage or other adverse condition will lead the University to curtail some operations in the absence of adverse weather conditions. It is not realistic to expect local radio stations to communicate this distinction when they are providing public service announcements and Dalhousie is one in a long list of institutions with an announcement to convey. Future messages on the switchboard will refer to curtailment of operations and will not refer to closure of the University. 4. How do I know if I am deemed to be essential and required to work when the University has otherwise curtailed operations? Some occupations are specifically listed under the policy. However, any employee can be required to attend to work.
