Embracing continuity and improved access requires clinicians to accept a truly patient-centered approach to care: to see patients most days of the week, to cede to their patients control over their daily schedules, and to be willing to see their own patients who drop into the office and not expect other clinicians to do so. Why might clinicians agree to such changes in their work life? Clinica's practitioners have accepted the priorities of continuity and access partly because persuasive medical leaders had the courage to say this is the way it's going to be, partly because they see these policies benefiting their patients, and recently because Clinica has been recruiting new clinicians who already agree with these principles. A situation that calls for quick and urgent care such as an emergency is the right situation when going for an emergency room is the only option you have in your hand. However, for those situations which are not really life-threatening but calls for immediate attention, are the ones where choosing a walk-in-clinic is the perfect option Not only do these clinics have quality and certified group of doctors and nurse working under them, but they provide quick medical help without making you wait or causing any delay. Any delay in getting medical services may result in worsening the condition more than earlier. Let us have a look at some of the ideal conditions where choosing these medical units over regular hospitals is always a wise option: I had a pregnancy massage with Trisha, who is absolutely amazing!!! She has 40+ years experience and you can feel it. She is sweet soft spoken, and a saint with her hands. She had the perfect pressure throughout the massage and gave me some helpful tips as well. My body feels more relaxed, less tense and free from the aches and pains I was feeling before I walked in. I will definitely be back to see her. She is fantastic!! I took my dogs in for shots and ended up with an over $1000 vet bill. With a $60 introductory cleaning and $95 X-rays, the NYU dental school is a perfectly acceptable option for the uninsured. Not to mention the typical lack of sleep for a father with two young girls. No waiting period: In the crowded rooms of emergency unit and hospitals, you have to wait for hours till you get to see the doctor. This makes the situation worse than before. This is not the case with these urgent care units. They have a huge staff of doctors and nurses to treat each and every patient without any delay in treatment.
Families in the Bronx can take comfort in knowing that we will always provide their children with superior emergency care. It is important to identify what type of care that is needed. If it is critical, then neither a walk-in clinic nor an urgent care clinic should be a choice. An emergency room should always be the first option for critical issues. For the common cold, always choose the walk-in clinic, but for a more serious illness choose the urgent care clinic. December 19, 2013. A year later we found out she was pregnant again. My wife delivered our third child and second girl just two weeks ago. I couldn't be more please with the results and am thankful that Dr. Wilson offers his services for such an affordable rate. Susan and John have been married for 46 years. Susan has always demonstrated a tendency for depression but it has generally been kept under control with medication. John's health begins to deteriorate and within a year he is dead. Several months after her husband's death, Susan is exhibiting signs of severe depression. She is given ever-increasing levels of various antidepressants but they have no effect. She is also exhibiting signs of a psychosis and is inflicting wounds upon herself. The family puts her in an assisted-living facility but they are unable to deal with their aberrant behavior. Her son who lives in New York decides to bring her to live with him and he admits her to a hospital in New York City Tests indicate she is suffering from severe hypothyroidism and she is put on appropriate treatment. (Apparently no health practitioner had to this point suspected there may be another condition contributing to the depression other than old age.) The low thyroid undoubtedly was a significant factor in the development of her depression. But treatment of the depression is not addressed in the hospital and it has progressed considerably. She is transferred to a nursing home and wrongly diagnosed with dementia and placed in the dementia unit. She is deteriorating rapidly, she continues to abuse herself and she refuses to speak or acknowledge anyone. Within a few months she will probably be dead. At this point an experienced geriatric care physician steps forward and correctly diagnoses her condition as clinical depression. She is hospitalized for six months and undergoes aggressive treatment for depression. They also discover she is severely malnourished and correct that problem as well. She has now moved back into the home of her son. She is a normal functioning person and is even volunteering to work in the local library. The elderly health care system almost dropped the ball on this one. I called in to see what my co-pay was going to be and was told they don't let patients know over the phone. Ok..... I told them I wasn't going to walk into an office, sit down for an exam, and take the time to get checked out if I didn't know what I'd potentially be paying for their services. I don't want to waste my time or theirs. I was put on hold and them taken through a range of what different cleanings would cost based off how my exam turned out. Great, that's all I was asking.

They don't examine me physically. They ask me how long I have taken morphine but no one ever asks me about the 10 years in which my doctor and I tried every conceivable drug and treatment OTHER than morphine. I have been told that I MUST be an addict based on my high daily dosage. (Dependence does not equal addiction.) I face ugly discrimination and bias on a daily basis because of a drug I need.
