Changed insurance companies and started looking for a new doctor about 2 months ago. Finally settled in a dr at Vancouver Clinic(the one in Washougal). The appointment clerk was professional enough on that initial call. I couldn't be scheduled for 5 weeks and was told if I had health issues to go to their urgent care. I did schedule with the Dr and did contact urgent care who abruptly told me that unless I was an established patient I wasn't going to be seen. Seemed odd but I let that go as a lack of info shared with the appointment clerks. 5 weeks pass and I had spaced the appt. remembering about 25 mins before the appt I called and informed them I might be 15 mins late. I was curtly told that I will be automatically cancelled at 20 mins late and charged a $50 fee for a missed appt. I asked if they send appt reminders as I had to wait 5 weeks to get the appt and she said yes they usually send a letter and a reminder call...I had received neither. At this point I had made the decision to stop the process of becoming a patient. There were too many signs of problems for me to continue. Two days later I received a curt letter telling me if I missed 3 appts during a 12 month cycle of a year I would be terminated as a patient.(fair enough).Interesting they were Johnny on the spot to admonish but not contact a new patient prior with their policy of sending a welcome letter and phone call reminder. I would suggest staying away from this place. The two stars are for the initial clerk I spoke to who was professional. I went here to get my state inspection and this place was quick, fast and efficient. I came early in the morning on a Saturday and waited no more than 20 minutes. These guys are great! Dr. Anderson finds things that other vets just don't. After seeing 5 other vets in this area, this is the one we are sticking with. We only tried this vet last because it is furthest from our house, but well worth the drive. Dr. Anderson correctly diagnosed our cat with asthma and we are working on treating him. The other vets we visited didn't take our cat's problems seriously, so he was just getting worse. Dr. Anderson and his staff are cat people and dog people, so they are very cat-oriented, unlike most other vets. The office is clean and doesn't smell like animals. They also let our cat walk around the exam room while they examine him and while we talked, so he wasn't on the table panicking the whole time. One other thing...we like our area! Admittedly, it used to be a bit rough around the edges but things have changed a great deal over the years. There is a brand new boutique hotel across the street on Wilcox and they are building a Dream Hotel across Selma.
