I also knew that if you've recently been on antibiotics your rapid strep test could come out negative, which it did. The doctor told me I had a sinus infection and prescribed sulfameth/trimethoprim. Well guess what? This doesn't treat strep throat so I wasted a couple days (while on vacation) with the wrong medication. So I had to go to a new doctor who was luckily competent and gave me azithromycin which treats both strep throat and a sinus infection.
