He numbed my eye, drained it and gave me a prescription for an ointment. I'm back on the job seeing out of both eyes and happy I didn't try to pop that sucker on my own. He told me he was a pediatrician and then gave my baby a breathing treatment using a mask for adult sized faces. He said he would only give half now, and I should come back on the following Monday for the other half. When I went to check out, they were charging me $175! This included the doctor fee and a fee for the nebulizer treatment and medicine. At the front desk I asked why it was so much and was told it was because of the insurance I have. I have a PPO and usually pay a $25 copay at the Cedars Sinai Urgent Care to cover all treatment, so I was really confused by the high rate. After some argument with the man at the front desk, and then the doctor, they took off $25. I ended up storming out upset at the confusing information and concerned over my baby's apparently enlarged liver. I took him to see another doctor the next day and was told his liver was normal. A month or so later I was reimbursed by my insurance company for the doctor visit. I'm not sure why they didn't just tell me that would happen when I questioned the charge at the doctor's office. So overall, a negative experience due to perhaps a lack of knowledge and communication skills from the front desk, and lack of pediatric medical training and bedside manner from the doctor.
