I told them to give me time to get him to walk to me to sit on my lap or at least approach me so that I could try to bear hug him. It was obvious he was confused and scared. I was barely a minute into my efforts when all of a sudden the assistant went in, grabbed my son's arms from the front with no warning whatsoever! My son was terrified and was screaming! The guy wouldn't let go and I found myself on the floor trying to make eye contact with my son and keep him from hitting his head on the floor. The guy then let go, walked towards the door with the staff and me staring at him in absolute shock, and said, Give him the benadryl and let him sit with mom for a bit. Needless to say I was yelling from the top of my lungs how he could do something like that and he even went as far as denying that he grabbed son. How could that be that my son's arms ended up in both his hands' grip?! Spoke with the Director the next day, told me that the guy felt horrible and that he was told to write a letter to the director at which point I told him that education and training are required of his staff for individuals on the spectrum or those with any disability whatsoever! He said he wanted to look into that and even emailed me to start a communication chain on how to locate a company who could provide that service.
