It wasn't until I got home and mentioned to a family member (who is a doctor) that I had been diagnosed with a virus and prescribed with antibiotics that I realized... antibiotics only treat bacteria. I had unnecessarily been prescribed antibiotics, presumably to make me feel like my sickness was sympathized with and they would provide a medicine for it... I don't appreciate being prescribed medicine just for the sake of it however. Would have preferred for her to tell me it was a virus, and only my body would be able to fight it off.
