It wasn't cheap, but it actually wasn't as expensive as I had feared from the horror stories I had heard. The total bill was definitely less than $1000. I didn't wait that long to be seen, either. I'm sure some hospitals are a lot worse than others, of course - mine was near my home in a suburb, but wasn't a wealthy private hospital).
