My son attempted to be seen at WNY today after being sent to an urgent care facility by the university health center, and consulting his family doctor at home. Before I sent him to WNY I called Cigna to confirm where he should go in Buffalo, not knowing the city, as he is away at college. Cigna provided me with a list of urgent care facilities that are in network for our plan. I went to Yelp to look up any reviews of facilities in the area. I decided to send him to WNY on their positive reviews. My son arrived at WNY and was very impressed with the lovely waiting room. Unfortunately after providing his Cigna insurance card he was told they do not take his particular policy, he called me immediately, and I in turn called Cigna. The Cigna rep was wonderful, after explaining the situation she offered to call the WNY facility. Cigna assured them that our plan falls under their MVP plan. So sad that the WNY employee could not understand this and denied my son service. I am sure there are other facilities that he can go to, but after this terrible experience I am flying my son home tomorrow to take care of the situation. It would have been nice if he could have been seen, especially after his drive to this facility that we chose for their ratings.
